So I might not fit the west coast H&B model, but Palore.com has released a sneak peak on some local search data. They’ll have this information on their own blog very soon as well.
We looked at Health & Beauty businesses in the West Coast, and checked what percentage of businesses claim their listings on various online directories (i.e. correct their details, add information such as opening hours, special offers, etc.)
The awareness is pretty interesting. Current advertisers are more apt to claim and update their online listings (hours of operation, special offers, etc) than non-advertisers.
To the non-local online advertisers out there, there are many businesses that offer consulting on how to get the most from your local online listings, although you can do pretty well on your own at no cost at all other than your time.
